Path of Exile 2 introduces a fresh twist to the endgame Atlas system with Towers and Precursor Tablets, offering players new ways to push their Maps further with increased difficulty, density, and, most importantly, reward. These systems allow players to strategically enhance surrounding Waystones (Maps) by completing nearby Towers and placing powerful Precursor Tablets inside.
This guide explains how Towers work, how to use Precursor Tablets, and how to find the most efficient setup to maximize Path of Exile 2 Currency and your loot potential.
Tablet Modifiers
Prefixes (Generic Map Buffs):
+(10-15)% Item Rarity
+(3-7)% Item Quantity
+(3-7)% Pack Size
+(15-25)% Magic Monster Chance
+(10-15)% Gold Found
+(5-10)% Experience Gain
Suffixes (Mechanic-Specific Buffs):
Each Tablet's suffix buffs its associated league mechanic:
Breach Tablet: Increases Rare/Magic monsters in Breaches
Expedition Tablet: Boosts Artifact drop quantity
Overseer Tablet: Adds Strongboxes, Shrines, or Essences, or buffs boss loot
Note: Tablets are Magic rarity only - they can roll 1 Prefix and 1 Suffix.
Unique Tablets
There are also Unique Precursor Tablets that:
Always apply a specific mechanic
Offer powerful implicit effects
Cannot be modified, but are extremely impactful
For example:
A Unique Tablet might add Delirium to all affected Maps and double the Delirium fog duration.
Overlapping Towers: Advanced Strategy
Towers have overlapping zones of influence. This means:
A single Map (Waystone) can be affected by multiple Towers
Each Tower can have up to 3 Tablets
Theoretically, a Map can benefit from up to 9 Tablets if it's within range of 3 Towers
You can:
1 Tower: Up to 3 Tablets
2 Towers: Up to 6 Tablets
3 Towers: Up to 9 Tablets
Triple Tower overlaps are extremely rare, and setting them up can take hours. They're ideal for players who want to fully min-max, but most players will be more than satisfied with single or cheap Path of Exile 2 Currency double overlaps.
